New music! New art!
Music!
I'm thrilled to have added the haunting music of James Molloy to my game (links below). The track 'Dream' really sets the scene for my main menu screen. I'm still in search of the right accompanying music for my game's main soundtrack but it will probably be something pretty similar.
It's been a challenge to find the right music to accompany the game, as I wanted something that would work throughout the story. At the start my character is suffering and in a pretty dark place, but is basically living her life. So it can't start out too dramatic. Then as events evolve and things descend into violence, the score still needs to be suitable. Something minimalistic, haunting - something barely there - would be perfect. But I'm still in search of the right piece. I'm excited to have found the perfect music for the main menu though - the first thing new players will hear when they start the game and enter the world.
And along with that - brand new art! I've added quite a lot of new art throughout the game to illustrate Katya's horrifying journey to happiness and freedom. I was aiming to get a consistent feel across all the art, and a consistent pallete, so hopefully that's been accomplished. There are still some stretches without art but those are times when I think the words do a better job of describing what's happening and art would just get in the way. There's a balance to find and I'll probably keep changing my mind about where it is.
I'm ramping up to release Vicissitude on the Google Play Store and will put the link here when I do. I've implemented saving / loading / menus / new game etc and am all ready to go except for another quality of life feature and the main soundtrack. Exciting times!
Thanks to all who have played my little game so far and to those who have kindly left comments. Feedback is most appreciated. Thanks all.
